National Poetry Writing Month: On your marks, get set...

I feel as though my friends and I are all just standing around blinking at each other and wondering whether that blur that just roared by was really, actually, the entire month of March. My calendar says that that is exactly what happened, though, and I'm not complaining-- because tomorrow is April! And of course, April is National Poetry Writing Month, the only time of year that compels me to write consistently for any measurable length of time. I've only done it twice (and one of those was actually National Novel Writing Month, repurposed/hijacked), so I'm still kind of a noob, and I'm really looking forward to being utterly slaughtered in my attempts to make unruly words sit together on a page. I'll be recording all of my poetic ramblings here, not because I want all of you to think this is poetry in any finished sense, but because I need to learn not to take myself so seriously. Feel free to follow and join!

This site will be posting daily prompts, which are really helpful some days. Haikus are also a blessing from the Lord, as are refrigerator magnets. But you can scroll down to see all of that!

Peace, love, and poetry,
~Ely
